(1) What’s the difference between Micro-PET and Micro-SPECT devices? What are their advantages and the shortcomings?
Albert J. Sinusas
<International Circulation>: I know your study has been involving animal models, but what is the current data for microSPECT for human clinical applications?
Dr Sinusas: They are purely animal systems at this point in time. With these high resolution systems you cannot put anything larger than a rat in them. There are newer hybrid SPECT/CT systems available for clinical uses that have solid state detectors utilizing telluride detectors and multi-pinhole collimators. These offer improved resolution and increased sensitivity that allow dynamic imaging which is available for patients.
